Nine-year old Mackenzie Jessup has been chosen as this years Police Chief for a Day after a volunteer committee selected her winning essay at a contest held on September 27th, 2013.

Mackenzie is a Grade 5 student from Meadowcrest Public School in Brooklin. She will be celebrating her 10th birthday in a big way this year when she is picked up from her school in a police cruiser and sworn in as Chief for a Day on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. After her ceremony at police headquarters, her duties will include a tour of the building and visits to the Forensic Identification Unit, and Police Education and Innovation Centre before she takes to the sky in Air1.
